Track Double Degree Lyon 1 - Wuhan
The University of Wuhan and the University Claude Bernard Lyon 1 offer a Double Degree Master of Physics. This high level curriculum proposes experimental and theoretical courses in all fields of modern fundamental Physics with an emphasis on Atomic and Molecular Physics, Condensed Matter and Optics. The Double Degree is composed of 4 semesters, two spent in each University. Besides the scientific program, the students are offered a unique opportunity to discover the academic Chinese system and an introduction to the Chinese culture. The program prepares to a pursuit at the PhD level in an academic Laboratory in France or abroad or to join the private sector at the Bac+5 level.
The first semester of the curriculum (S1 of year M1) is common to all other orientations of the Master of Physics in Lyon. The S1 offers the necessary concepts that all Physicists must master. Students then follow a specialization during Semesters 2 and 3 spent at the University of Wuhan. A research internship constitutes the core of Semester 4 spent again at the University Lyon 1 in an academic laboratory.
Theoretical and experimental competences will be acquired by the students all along the year allowing for a pursuit in a PhD program in an academic laboratory or at the Bac+5 level in the private sector. These competences are scientific, both experimental and theoretical, in relation to the scientific courses with en emphasis on Atomic and Molecular Physics, Condensed Matter and Optics, as well as transverse, including project management or international opening.
The program is built in Lyon in close collaboration with the academic laboratories of the University Claude Bernard Lyon 1 (ILM, IPNL, CRAL, LMA, …) and their teaching and research staff as well as their partners of the public and private sectors. At the University of Wuhan, the students join the Department of Physics and its laboratories.
The program prepares students for a pursuit in a PhD program in an academic laboratory. A pursuit at the Bac+5 level in the private sector is possible. After a PhD thesis the students can be recruited as a research or teaching staff in an academic laboratory or carry on in the private sector where the competences of a Physicist are well recognized (R&D, management, consulting, …).
