The PAMMCO program offers a high level curriculum in both experimental and theoretical aspects of modern Physics covering the fields of Atomic and Molecular Physics, Condensed Matter and Optics. The program prepares the student to carry on in a PhD doctoral program in an Academic Laboratory in France or abroad. It also aims at providing them with skills that are much appreciated in other professional orientations.

The first year of the Master program (year M1) comprises a first Semester (S1) common to all tracks and offering all the necessary concepts that any Physicist should master. The specialization starts in Semester 2 with a set of courses specific to the PAMMCO orientation. The specialization is further developed in Semester 3 and a research internship in an academic Laboratory constitutes the core of Semester 4.

Theoretical and experimental competences will be acquired all along the year by the students to pursue their career in a PhD program or at Bac+5 level in the private sector. These competences are scientific, in relation to the scientific courses of the PAMMCO track, as well as transverse, including project management or international opening.

The PAMMCO track benefits from the academic laboratories of the University Claude Bernard Lyon 1 (ILM, IPNL, CRAL, LMA, …) and their research and teaching staff and their partners from the public and the private sector. These laboratories are also involved in the program as host laboratories during the internship.

The program prepares the students to a pursuit in a PhD program in an academic laboratory or the education career. A pursuit at the Bac+5 level in the private sector is also possible. With a PhD degree, the students can carry on as a research and teaching staff in an academic laboratory or join the private sector in activities where the competences are well recognized(R&D, management, consulting, …).
